African Clean Energy (ACE) is currently the second highest ranked B Corp in the world and is both a manufacturer of renewable energy products and a forerunner in the Energy as a Service (EaaS) climate fintech landscape. ACE delivers a comprehensive household energy solution addressing the need for electricity and clean cooking in emerging markets.

Its flagship product, the ACE One hybrid energy system, integrates solar electricity generation and clean biomass cooking through fan gasification. This data-enabled system facilitates access to energy with a significant reduction in fuel consumption and offers a 'virtual grid'-like analysis of usage and impact, including on carbon reduction.

When utilized in conjunction with sustainable fuels, the ACE One system further enhances its positive influence on various fronts. Aside from the climate impacts, it also fosters improvements in human health, ensures product satisfaction, helps create financial and time savings, and contributes to the reduction of deforestation.

With its innovative and sustainable solutions, ACE is making considerable strides in transforming the energy sector in emerging markets, paving the way toward a more sustainable future.

"ACE greatly looks forward to scaling its collaboration with Mozambique Renewables to ensure no time is lost in scaling our solutions to key new regions of the world."

To fight widespread poverty in both rural, urban, and semi-urban Mozambique it is crucial to identify and introduce simple solutions to improve livelihood, income, and overall health and well-being in sustainable ways for smallholder and small-scale farmers, farm producers, fishermen, and informal traders, sellers and service providers hence our enthusiasm about the clean cooking stove concept developed by Mozambique Renewables, which can benefit a huge percentage of the population immediately and at the same time also lead the way to significantly reduce deforestation caused by the use of wood/charcoal stoves as the main source for preparing meals in Mozambican households.

We are very encouraged by the results from the 2 pilot projects we have been part of implementing in partnership with Mozambique Renewables with funding from ExxonMobil Mozambique with the daily cooperation of 130 rural women from the Changalane community in Maputo Province.

The “Biochar Smart Stove” kit includes a smartphone, solar panel, LED lamp for lighting, and 2 USB ports for charging of electronic equipment. This is in itself a major change for most families. They have a new way of communicating and have free of charge assess to energy which is sufficient for use during the evenings. Moreover, the biomass fuel used is clean and thus reduces the level of domestic pollution giving significant improvement to general health in the family and the environment.

The cost of fuel is less than the cost of any alternative fuel source and the group of very happy Changalane stove owners are reporting, that the many hours they have saved weekly to fetch firewood, they are now using for other productive benefits in the field or the home.

“At ADPP, we are very proud to have taken part in the pilots, which have been important for testing a smart solution for how to switch from the use of fossil fuel (firewood and charcoal) to clean fuel (biofuel and solar-powered lanterns).  Practically it is a solution for increasing energy security for communities in both rural and urban areas, with a low-cost fuel source, healthy for both people and the planet.”
